
Perry County UNITE Coalition June 1,2010
Item 1. Opening Remarks: Meeting called to order by Vice-President, Dan Griffiths. Karen Campbell opened with prayer. Members present: Dan Griffiths, Charles Turner,Gaylon Good,Tom Vicini, Helen Brunty.
Item 2. Reading of Minutes: The April 2010 minutes were changed to read that the Lifeline request passed. It was also noted that Camp Promise will be funded with the six month budget of the second half instead of the first half. Gaylon good made a motion to accept the minutes and it was seconded by Charles Turner. The motion passed.
Item 3. Treasurer's Report: -no treasurer's report
Item 4. Old Business: President Helen Brunty arrived and then directed the meeting.
Leatherwood Elementary was given $750 for archery. $600 was given for HOFNOD. No information on $1500 for archery at Perry Central. Dan will get Lifeline receipts and Helen will get the receipts for the Spring Fling. Dan will contact Eddie Campbell for Celebrate Recovery receipts(amount budgeted $800). All monies must be spent by June 30th.
Item 5. New Business: Discussion of the second half budget. Lifeline Action plan must be revised. HOFNOD requests needs to be more specific with details and revised to include the use of high school mentors on the trip. Motion was made to allow Perry UNITE to provide $1000 to Camp Promise and then be reimbursed by UNITE. Dan Griffiths made the motion to accept the proposal and Charles Turner seconded the motion. The motion passed. HCTC request is reduced to $480 and project needs to be produced by December or UNITE must be reimbursed. The archery request for funding was approved. The funding for the brochure was approved. It is to be bid out. The official meeting date for Perry UNITE was set for the 4th of each month at 5:00 pm in Room 207. Reporting procedures were e-mailed out and reports need to be sent to Tom. Tom will send them back to Helen. There was a brief discussion of updated drug survey for Helen's students.
Item 6. UNITE Update: 20 volunteers needed for SHND on June 8th. Jeff Sheppard talks with parents while the camp is going on trying to get recruits for the Drug Coalitions.Camp UNITE will be July 27-30 at the University of the Cumberlands. It is for 7th,8th and 9th graders. Sarah Flynn is the new Community Outreach Research Director and she is interested in being part of the the coalition.
Item 7: Additional Agenda Items: The Perry UNITE copier was sold to Karen Campbell for $175. It was discussed that the web-site needs to be upgraded. Dan Griffiths shared information about the UNITE Extravaganza he attended. He has a DVD he would like to share.
